Even in small companies you can have the same constituent parts for the Agile process. What would be beneficial from one organisation to another?

The roles in the Agile process

Customer

The user is the customer in mind. If you are working in a code shop, there can be some confusion between the end customer and the client. In the end — who is your client and who pays the bills?

In a large product-driven organisation this isn’t such an issue.

Product owner

The product owner is responsible for breaking the product vision into a set of user stories. This was a learning experience in the smaller company.

Software development team

The team can include designers (or not). In a smaller company everyone can sit inside the same room and work together, in a larger company the team can be geographically dissipated.

Designers

Within the startup the designer would behave much like in a waterfall model, providing work ahead of time and then being rather isolated from the rest of the process (and seeing it as not their problem). Within the larger…
