Although you do go on to argue your point the following introduction has really destroyed your point: “I completely disagree with the use of optionals. I’m not saying they are not useful…”. Therefore you disagree with the feature, but argue that it is useful.

Because optionals are, well, optional then it seems that you are claiming the language would be better off without a feature you don’t need to use.

I would say that your best course of action would be to not use optionals in your code.
