iOS 26 is Changing Alerts. Should You Care?

I’ve just seen the keynote presentation at WWDC 2025, and Apple have quietly dropped a UX bombshell.
It’s not the liquid glass design itself, although that is a big change in itself.
No. It’s the news that alerts will no longer take over the whole screen.
It sounds a small change. It’s no.
What Changed?
If you take a look at 11.23 on YouTube you’ll see the announcement.
So in iOS 26 (I can’t believe it’s going to be called that, but I’d better get used to it):
- Alerts are now anchored to where the user tapped.
- They don’t dim the whole screen.
- They don’t block other interactions.
- And unless you’re paying…
