Agile seems to be prevalent in the world of software development.

The 14th Annual State of Agile report brings together Agile practitioners into the current state of Agile in 2020, and this post is about some of the key findings of their survey and thinking ahead about Agile in 2023.

95% of respondents reported their organisations practice Agile development methods and (although some care needs to be taken as the respondents are responding to the 14th Annual State of Agile report).

Agile (at times) seems to have won the war against other software methods. But what does that mean?

According to the report, there are several clear benefits of adopting Agile methods for software development:

  • Ability to manage changing priorities
  • Project visibility
  • Business/IT alignment
  • Delivery speed/ Time to market
  • Team morale
