WWDC 2023: Two Weeks On

I don’t know about you, but I always feel that WWDC is a tricky thing for iOS developers to process and keep up with while working a fulltime job (or even without, as I recall working in 2020 without the benefit of a salary and still trying to keep up with announcements).

Introduction

Each year I feel anticipation about the new APIs and features in our favourite programming language (Swift). In fact WWDC videos generally last all year for me, and understanding the new direction that Apple gives us.

In 2023 nothing much changed.

The Cycle of Anxiety

The build up to WWDC seems to start earlier and earlier each year (much like Christmas). The expectations and predictions come from sites like https://www.macrumors.com/ seemingly from the point that the previous WWDC finishes.

This rumour mill certainly sells for Apple and the associated websites and brands. Macrumors for example says it in the title — rumors. This starts to build a FOMO in both retail customers and developers.
